Sarah-Jane Marriott Senior Consultant

Sarah-Jane is a consultant in theIDLgroup's Social Development Portfolio, and is theIDLgroup’s focal point for Monitoring and Evaluation work.  Sarah-Jane is a versatile and experienced international development practitioner who has worked for both government and non-governmental international cooperation agencies over the past sixteen years. She has worked largely in the health sector with a focus on Reproductive, Maternal and Newborn Health, but also has experience in the Agriculture and Water and Sanitation sectors.

Sarah-Jane has proven skills in team leadership, programme/project design, academic course design, workshop development and facilitation, strategic analysis, and policy research.  Her main focus in recent years, however, has been in monitoring and evaluation. She was an Evaluation Adviser in New Zealand Aid (NZAID), and an independent evaluation consultant, prior to joining theIDLgroup.

With an academic background in psychology and demography, Sarah-Jane has a good grasp of quantitative research methodologies, but also has extensive experience in using qualitative approaches, as well as promoting participatory techniques to evaluation. Sarah-Jane has led or participated in teams evaluating development projects, programmes, strategies and policies in South and South-East Asia, Central and South America, Haiti, and the Pacific.
