Joanna Buckley

Research Consultant

Joanna is a Research Consultant specialising in Fragile and Conflict Affected States with a particular interest in private sector development, local economic development, employment creation and business development services for small and medium enterprise (SME). Joanna has field experience in West Africa, Southern Africa and Asia, with both long-term placements and short term consultancies. Her work has involved engagement with donors, national governments, international NGO’s, multinational corporations and the military (US, NATO, ISAF). Joanna’s field-based experience is complemented by strong socio-economic research, analytical and writing skills. Her recent work includes an impact assessment of job creation in Helmand, Afghanistan as part of donor reporting for DFID and an analysis of the local economic impact of aid in Sierra Leone and Solomon Islands for AusAid.

Joanna is a strong project manager, with experience managing country wide sector analysis and field work across multiple locations. Joanna has knowledge of project management and planning tools, participatory rural appraisal, research methodology and design and outreach and communications.
