Emma Haegeman

Research Consultant

Emma recently joined theIDLgroup after completing her masters at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London. Her dissertation research focused on problems of resource allocation and equity within public services during processes of decentralisation and the growth of public-private partnerships in Indonesia.

Her main interests are in governance, social development, public sector reform and political economy analysis, with a primary interest in East Asia. Before joining theIDLgroup, Emma worked as a Project Associate for the United Nations Development Programme on civil society and local council development in Lao PDR. She has also worked for the Mekong River Commission on environmental governance and volunteered for a number of small NGOs in East Asia. She is able to carry out research of a high quality and also has good networking and team-building skills.
