Research Consultant

Craig Mathieson is a research consultant in theIDLgroup’s Governance, Institutions and Political Economy Portfolio. Craig has strong research and analytical skills particularly in accountability, civil society strengthening and post-conflict state building.

Craig has field and project management experience in Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Zambia. His work includes designing a USAID funded project to strengthen engagement between civil society and local government, and assisting in the design of an NGO accredication policy for a local government unit, both in south west Uganda. Prior to joining theIDLgroup, he undertook analysis for Coffey International Development of the role of civil society support in post conflict state-building in Afghanistan and South Sudan.

Craig holds and MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics. His dissertation analysed the persistence of non-state governance structures after a recent peace process in Eastern DRC.
